Podcasts Podcasts Podcasts

I touched upon podcasts about 2-3 years ago  after typing in the word Volvo into itunes online store search bar. I saw songs, (mostly unrelated) apps, (some unrelated) and some podcasts. These podcasts were split into 2 categories: audio only or clippings. These podcasts did not seem interesting to me at all seeming that they did not come from Volvo Car Corporation or they were in different languages or only dealt with motor sport. After realizing what podcasts were and they were FREE I decided to search other brands into the itunes search bar.
I found some amazing stuff; podcasts have changed what I listen to on my ipod when I study, do yard work or travel. I now have about 80 podcasts that I listen to on a daily basis from the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, SAAB and Volvo. The sad part is that the podcasts I wish I had do not exist, as Volvo does not make podcasts like the other brands do.
Audi TV is the brand of podcast that Audi produces and it is fantastic because Audi podcasts are official from Audi for the purpose of promoting the brand and the products they make. This mission, to me, is perfect; it is done so well because of the professional way these videos are made. The music is modern and fitting to Audi's upbeat style. I did notice that there is quite a bit of filler when it comes to the narration because the guy just keeps talking about statistics that no one really cares about, like the range of kW the engine can produce. It is nice to see the woman greet us in the beginning and a farewell when the clip is over.
The BMW TV is BMW's podcast brand and it is similar to Audi TV in the way that the films are very professional with the purpose of promoting the brand and its products. The style is a bit lighter and whimsical, just like BMW design.
Mercedes Benz Podcasts are slightly lacking behind BMW and Audi TV because of my lack of motor sport, a focus to Benz with the all new SLS. The E Class overview is by far one of my favorite podcasts, due to the shear legacy and evolution of the model.
SAAB only has a few podcasts. The last of which talk about the financial crisis they were going through, that is no way to promote the brand. Plus these last few podcasts were random interviews sponsored by automotive news people.
These podcasts need to be taken seriously because they are a great opportunity to get people hooked on the brand and its culture. Why do people from certain brands you ask yourself? The answer may have to do with the psychological ways of making people excited about hot new products. Volvo and SAAB need work in this area.

I looked around the room in Jacob Javits Convention Center and I thought, these European luxury cars are all good but why do Mercedes Benz BMW Audi sell more than Volvo SAAB? For a few years I have been trying to solve this mystery, and I have been somewhat successful in understanding Volvo's way in promoting its products. It is my goal in life to get closer to working with Volvo and its exciting product to make Volvo become a fearful rival of those German brats.
